Project Activities 2023

30 January. Eric Petzoldt facilitates the concert 'Mazmout' and workshop ('Chaâbi: a form of freedom in Moroccan music') of Othman El Kheloufi at Weimar University, Department for Transcultural Music Studies.

2 February. Eric Petzoldt hosts the concert and artist talk with Othman El Kheloufi ('Mazmout') at Kulturzentrum Schlachthof, Kassel, Germany.

4th March. Matthew Machin-Autenrieth hosts the inauguration of the exhibition Exposición de Arte Marroquí. Córdoba, 1946 at Casa Arabe in Córdoba. More information can be seen here

23rd March. Matthew Machin-Autenrieth hosts the concert 'Ziryab Caló ‘Entre dos Orillas’ with Suhail Serghini and José Cortés ‘El Pirata’ at King's College Chapel, University of Aberdeen. 

24th March. Matthew Machin-Autenrieth hosts the workshop ‘Arab-Andalusian Music and Flamenco:
An Intercultural Dialogue’ with Suhail Serghini. 

14th April. The whole project team present a panel entitled 'Decolonising Musical Epistemologies in the Western Mediterranean' at the British Forum for Ethnomusicology annual conference at the University of Edinburgh.

1st June. Manuela Cortes Garcia delivered a seminar and workshop on Arab-Andalusian music history and culture as part of the Exposición de Arte Marroquí. Córdoba, 1946 at Casa Arabe in Córdoba. More information can be seen here.

30th June. The project team will presented a panel entitled 'Bridges, Borders, Encounters: Musical Negotiations of Cultural Contact in the Western Mediterranean' at the 14th Symposium of the ICTM Mediterranean Music Studies Group in Marseille.
