1-2 April. Matthew Machin Autenrieth, Vanessa Paloma Elbaz & Stephen Wilford present in the 'Sonic Sensoria of Al-Andalus Workshop ' at University of Santa Cruz, CA.

 

8 April. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz hosts the Cambridge Festival event 'Ya Lalla: Singing to Birth', West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge University Concert/Lecture & Exhibit collaboration with Bayt Dakira Morocco, the Minerva Festival & Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

7-10 April. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presents '(en)gendered "ordinary" musical transmission: Sephardi women and their quotidian song' at Ordinary Musicians, the British Forum for Ethnomusicology Annual Conference at Open University.

11 April. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presents the keynote address 'The Body, the Voice and the Matriarch: Sonic Transmission of (En)gendering beyond Language and Belief' at (En)gendering Ladino ucLadino, at University of California Los Angeles.

13 April. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz takes part in the Seminar Series Sephardi Modernities by presenting 'Rhizomic Networks of unruptured continuity from 16th c. Italy to 21st c. Casablanca: Music, Power, Mysticism and Neo-Platonism' at University of Calgary and Brandeis University.

May 19-21. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presents 'Jewish Women and Sound: Simultaneous Negotiations of Resistance, Power and Passivity' at the Minorities in the Maghrib Conference, hosted by the Center for Maghrib Studies University of Arizona, in Djerba, Tunisia.

​

21-22 May. Eric Petzoldt hosts the three-day event 'Jaukadakka Afromed' at Le Gyptis, the cinema of La Friche Belle de Mai in Marseille, France, including a film showcase, concert, street performance, round table, and lecture with theme 'Jazz in and from Morocco'. Among the participants are: Yoram Rosilio, Majid Bekkas, Reda Zine, Jauk Armand Elmaleh-Lemal, Rita Stirn, and Mickael Clouet.

20-21 June. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz delivers the keynote for the conference Away from Home: Ideas, Emotions, Images and Writings on Homesickness in the Mediterranean World (1492-1923) at Universidad Novã de Lisboa.

​

11-13 July, Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presents "Texts -Practices -Politics: The Sonic Cycles of Time in Moroccan Jewish Life" at the 'Unfolding Time' conference of the British and Irish Jewish Studies Association, King's College London.

​

8-11 August, Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presents "The Digital Sphere and the Sensory: KHOYA—Jewish Morocco Sound Archive’s Yalalla Platform as a Repository for Jewish Women’s Silenced Voices" at the 18th World Congress for Jewish Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

5-7 September. 'Creative & Artistic Encounters in the Western Mediterranean'. Project conference held at the Sir Duncan Rice Library, University of Aberdeen. AND the conference contains a range of exhibitions both in person and online
